Description

In this episode of the No BS Sales School, Walker McKay talks about determining whether you really have an entrepreneurial spirit or if you just have a business idea. He argues that running a business entails sacrifice and an entirely different skill set than holding down a corporate job with benefits and a stable paycheck.

The only real way to know is to go out and sell something, so go do it. And if the troublesome work of figuring out scaling, logistics and temporary financial instability doesn’t faze you, then perhaps you really do have that entrepreneurial spirit after all.

Walker: "I can do anything I want. That's the good news and the bad news. I can sell anything I want, but I gotta figure out what it is I want to focus on. And then I gotta go find somebody to buy it from me. And then I gotta go deliver it. And at some point, I gotta figure out how to scale it."

Walker: "I'm so glad that you have these skills to do whatever it is that you do, but how can you try and package those things and make them so somebody else says, man, not only do I want that, I want you to help me with that. Otherwise, it's just an idea and you walk through your life thinking you have entrepreneurial spirit but you've always had a corporate job and you've always gotten a paycheck, and you've always had benefits, and you've always had somebody else telling you what to do."

Walker: "If you're wondering if you've got what it takes to be an entrepreneur, go sell. Go sell whatever it is. Get in front of people who can buy what it is you want to sell."
