Description

Nathalie Becquart is a French Catholic religious sister and member of the Congregation La Xavière. She has in many ways become the image of women’s leadership in the Church having been appointed by Pope Francis in 2022 as Undersecretary of the Synod of Bishops, making her the first woman to hold a voting role in a Synod of Bishops. She is one of the primary leaders of the Synod alongside Cardinal Mario Grech.

Sr. Becquart has a heart and passion for youth ministry and for promoting women’s leadership in the Church. In 2012, she was the first woman to be appointed as the Director of the National Service for the Evangelization of Youth and for Vocations within the French Bishops’ Conference.

Through her 10-year mission at the French Bishops’ Conference she became deeply connected to synodality, having helped prepare the Synod on “Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment” in France and the Synod on Young People in Vatican City.
