LORD, you have searched me and me known,
yes, when I rise up or sit down.
You understand, too, from afar,
the very thoughts that in me are.
2 You mark my path and lying down;
my ways to you are all well known;
for on my tongue can be no word,
but you completely know it, LORD.
3 You stand before me and behind,
and on me you have laid your hand.
Such wondrous knowledge is too strange,
for me, too high, beyond my range.
4 Where can I from your Spirit be?
Where from your presence can I flee?
You are in heav’n if there I fly,
and in the grave, if there I lie.
