Arkham Audio launches dark techno sublabel Arkham xxx with a gritty EP from Bad Brahmin.
The hammering hardcore techno drums and hypnotic sequences of ‘Méchant’ set the tone for Bad Brahmin’s debut release on Arkham Audio’s new sister-label Arkham xxx. The focus of the new division is a darker, harder and stronger sound, readily apparent in ‘Taboo’ where rattling drums and mechanical stabs drive the track, distorted clamour and muffled screams echoing throughout its halls. Next up, ‘Nettoyage’ is a techno weapon complete with the crushing reverb of repeating bells before ‘Hammahalle Secrets’ ties the release together with heavily distorted rhythms and mysterious swelling synths.
Bad Brahmin’s ‘Méchant’ EP is a quality statement of intent for the new Belgian label, hosting four reinterpretations from respected artists in the harder techno realms - including a remix from E-missions veteran Tred, techno powerhouse Patrick DSP, Moments in Time & Soma artist Rudosa as well as Erratum & Arkham label head Cri Du Coeur.
