Welcome to the first show of the South Africa Special series Radio Cómeme has for you.
From the hazy origins of what is now known as Gqom, you will find tracks dating back to 2012 from the production trio of Andile T, Menchess & Masive_Q. From their hometown of Mt Moriah, outside the notorious Durban township of Kwamashu, comes the gqom soundwave that has spread to music scenes throughout the continents. From the rough coasts of ZA, gqom carries rhythmic and raw elements evolving from 90s Kwaito, South African house music and hip hop beats. Radio Cómeme was there to dance to their outstanding and mindblowing dj sets in Johannesburg at Kitcheners.
RudeBoyz dj sets see Masive_Q and Andile T primarily handling the decks with Menchess mastering the mic to add live sounds and calls organically throughout the set.
