Biography
Born in the dusty reigns of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Bantu is best described as mute. From the outer lands of
South Africa, Bantu had the privilege of inheritance and craft when it comes to music.
Not really much about musical backgrounds, but the ability to adapt to a richer sound of different
signatures and styles makes a unique attribute for Bantu. The year of early 2000 saw Bantu
being a dusty tape and wax collector, landing amongst the likes of Marshall Jefferson,
Phill Collins,The Commordores, Tracey Chapman, Dermakuus Lewis to name a few, that gave birth
to a new and dynamic approach to music. Bantu considers music a gift from within, a perfect
way of nature completing and relating to human kind. Bantu considers music to be inspirational,
uplifting and a symphonical way to meditate. Born in a house of 3 and being the youngest, Bantu regards himself as a
versatile listener, having the privilege to own more records and expand his taste to other genres.
A human mind can be likened to a clay sand, its ready to be shaped and moulded, the important
approach is what you put in. Influences in music ranges from artists such as BB King, Frits Wentink,
Huerco S., IMYRMIND, Ryo Murakami, Salem Rashid, Robert Glasper, Ajnascent amongst the list.
Everything deserves a title, and I believe what represents me is Astral, Raw, Fuzzy and Digging.
Through various collections, Bantu learnt the ability to record and manipulate sound. Using a popular DAW,
Little was known of what will follow! Through various philosophical, spiritual and humanity practises, Bantu
continues to preach and spread uniqueness and unity in all his projects throughout.
The mid 2000's saw Bantu tapping a part-time career in music production and relocating
for a short time to Europe. Signing up with various labels back then and shaping his signature
with a long-time friend and partner in crime, Bantu became a powerhouse of his own under
the style of Underground, Balearic and Tech. Coming back from Europe and back in South Africa,
the time spent and music shared gave birth to podcasting and earning a first podcast show known as ROOM605.
Financing both the music projects and studies, Bantu earned his qualification in Sound Engineering in 2011,
also majoring in Network Engineering and Graphic Designing years to follow. Bantu is currently a self-titled
remixer, renouncing his approach to produce original stuff after a long 11 year career, earning a token
appreciation from peers ad travelling the world to share music and selections. Besides sippin tea and
digging through his dusty personal collection of tape and wax, Bantu enjoys the sounds of nature
and spreading love and unity through his online radio The Other Side Of Bantu and continues
to run his 3 underground labels through distribution and sound engineering services. Bantu can be seen through
the reflection of inner peace and consciousness, that's where I reside!
