March 12 2019, the 16th vurt podcast is 62min DJ set from German techno producer, DJ, and live artist called Desroi. His modernism techno works have garnered worldwide attention and continue to release on vurt's favorite techno labels such as Avian and Semantica.
Desroi was scheduled to have his first live performance at vurt on this weekend, but the gig has canceled due to the virus situation. We prepared this episode with the hope of overcoming all the difficulties with the virus soon. We hope that everyone will endure the difficulties with a strong and positive mind.

디제이/프로듀서로서의 커리어를 시작하며 동시에 독일 Folkwang 예술대학에서 작곡을 전공한 Desroi는 이론적으로 능숙한 작업능력을 바탕으로 테크노 씬에서 돋보이는 포지션을 만들어내고 있다. 그는 지속적으로 현대음악과 테크노 사이의 교묘한 지점을 탐험하면서 멜로디나 화성이 강조되는 전통적인 방식을 벗어나 리듬과 텍스쳐들로 구성된 새로운 사운드를 추구하고 있다.
Desroi의 모더니즘 테크노는 매혹적인 여러개의 계층들로 섬세하게 이루어져 있으며 불필요한 어지러움이 없다. 이것은 그가 엄격한 과정을 통해 트랙을 한차례 구성한 이후, 차례차례 껍질을 벗겨내듯 재구성해내기 때문이며, 그럼으로서 청취자들은 처음 언뜻 들었을 때 보다 시간이 지날수록 그의 음악에서 추상적인 무엇인가를 발견할 수 있게 된다.
라이브 퍼포먼서이자 디제이로 활동하는 Desroi는 무대위에서 가공되지 않은 날 것 그대로의 미래지향적인 소리들을 만들어내며, 확고하고 또 이성적인 방식으로 자신만의 엄격한 테크노 세트를 선보이고 있다.
자신이 운영하는 동명의 레이블 Desroi와 Shifted의 Avian 레이블을 통해 EP앨범들을 발표해오던 Desroi는, 2019년 11월 Svreca가 이끄는 Semantica 레이블을 통해 데뷔앨범 “Floating In Empty”를 발표하였다.
Desroi studied Composition at Folkwang University of Arts – parallel to his already ongoing career as a DJ, producer and label owner – having graduated in 2018. His craftsmanship combined with a more theoretical academic view gives him a distinguished position on the scene. Desroi is curious about exploring the bridges between contemporary music and techno, and he recently said he is less interested in arrangement, melodies and harmony, and much rather focuses strongly on textures, rhythms and new sounds. Listening to his compositions these quotes makes nothing but sense; Desroi’s techno is entrancing and layered but holds no unnecessary clutter. His tracks are so strictly organized and reduced that after spending some time with these stripped creations, the listener will discover something way more abstract than at first glance. Both as a live artist as well as a DJ, Desroi’s performances again focus on unsparingly and unsentimentally exposed material. Raw surface sounds and screeching futuristic signals prevail.
Desroi, who has been releasing EP albums under the same name label ‘Desroi’ and Shifted's ‘Avian’, released his debut album “Floating In Empty” on the ‘Semantica’ running by Svreca in November 2019.
