Pixel is a Shropshire, England based Drum & Bass dj/artist who doesn't like to be pigeon-holed to just one sub-genre.
Initially inspired by Roni Size and Reprazent's 'Brown Paper Bag' in 1997, Pixel was immediately hooked.
He has released music on Fokuz, Phuzion, Influenza, Celsius, Boomsha, Citrus, Soul Deep, Rasta Vibes and other labels over the course of his nearly 18-year career.
Pixel has also worked with artists like MC Tali, Human Nature, Malaky, MSDOS, and more.
"When I was younger, it was difficult for me to fit in or make friends, but drum & bass welcomed me with open arms".
Pixel's music is purely an expression for him, but having other people enjoy it is a feeling unlike any other.
His self-titled Album is dropping on Exiled Recordings on the 31st of August (Pixel's birthday) offering a varied selection of tracks, ranging from deep to dark with some soulful tips for good measure.
WHAT MOST INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE THIS ALBUM PROJECT?
"Mostly life at the time ..the LP was written almost fully during lockdown/COVID.. It's fairly darker than what a lot of people might know me for, it isn't the first time writing this kind of vibe, but I would say it comes mostly from being isolated and unsure of the future, much like many felt-Thankfully we appear to be on the tail end now, perhaps I'll write lighter stuff again.. I also have to push some blame on Exiled father/founder DJ Abyss for never restricting my creative side throughout the project and always supporting my expressive side. Obviously, without that love, it wouldn't be named "Pixel LP".
