Author and fellow podcaster, James Edgar Skye, joins Hunter Keegan for some real talk. From surviving suicide to battling with publishers to let his story be heard, James isn't afraid to be open about his life's struggles and successes.

James Edgar Skye is a native of Salinas, California. His diagnosis continues to be Bipolar One disorder since 2007, and his journey with this disease heavily influences his writing. Over the years, his diagnoses include panic disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, and seasonal affective disorder. His love for writing and his experience with Bipolar One helped create the moniker and his brand, "The Bipolar Writer."

J.E. considers himself an adult fiction and a fantasy/dystopian/supernatural/dark romanticism fiction novelist, but he also writes screenplays, short stories, and creative nonfiction. He writes within the dystopian and fantasy genres in his novels, short stories, and screenplays. J.E. has written a screenplay entitled Memory of Shane and is working on novel with the same name book novel.
James used his former mental health/mental illness platform to write a memoir on his experiences entitled The Bipolar Writer: A Memoir. It was first published in November 2019, but unforeseen circumstances with the original publisher pushed the book unpublished in December 2019. It was re-released as a self-published work in March 2020. Other mental health advocacy work includes a podcast, The Bipolar Writer Podcast, where he shares the stories of those in the community. It can be found anywhere that you listen to podcasts.
James is also writing/editing a fantasy fiction novel entitled The Rise of Nephilim, a six-book series. The other major work in process in fiction is a WIP called I am Aurora, Legend of the Myths of Old. In December 2020, James published his novella, Angel on the Ward, which you can find in the book section of this website. He plans to publish two short stories entitled The Dark Passenger and Heyeon and the Precious Notebook. Both short stories will be published in literary magazines.
J.E. is a coffee and tea lover spending most of his time in coffee shops writing. He also loves Japanese culture, including anime, foods like sushi/sashimi and loves Korean pop music and food. Music is a significant part of how J.E. has dealt with depression and anxiety. In 2021, J.E. is learning to speak Korean. He also loves to watch sports and actively roots for the Dodgers, Broncos, Lakers, and Alabama football.
