According to Walker, the emergence of hip hop from rap groups like the Geto Boys in the late ‘80s and DJ Screw in the ‘90s was inescapable. Walker, who now resides in New York, has written for many publications which include Houston Chronicle, Fader, Vice, The Wire and more. He’s also the host of Houston Rap Tapes Radio and the live writers series Evil Hour Evening Reading. Walker recently released the second edition of his book Houston Rap Tapes which chronicles trailblazers of the Houston rap scene.
