How do you persuade someone to examine - and maybe change - their thinking, especially when it comes to broad societal issues such as equality, diversity, and fairness? The YWCA Greater Austin has launched a two-year Community Partnership Initiative to train other organizations to apply a gender- and racial-justice framework to their work. The training sessions encourage people to explore and reflect on their own beliefs and learn – or maybe un-learn - things along the way. KUT's Jennifer Stayton talked with YWCA Greater Austin Executive Director Angela-Jo Touza-Medina and Volunteer and Training Institute Coordinator Haleigh Campbell about how people can be convinced to, at the very least, take a closer look at enduring beliefs that may be tightly held.
