A state lawmaker says Governor Abbott agrees a Confederate plaque in the state capitol should be removed. State representative Eric Johnson, a Democrat from Dallas, has been pushing for the removal of the plaque installed by the Children of the Confederacy in 1959 that includes a false claim that the Civil War’s underlying cause was not to sustain slavery.
We spoke to Johnson by telephone Friday afternoon.
