The 2015 legislative session is less than a month away and the Austin School District is looking for some financial help from lawmakers.
The current state school finance system is forcing Austin ISD to send back millions of dollars in property taxes—even as the district’s low-income population continues to increase. And it’s something new Austin school board Trustee Julie Cowan is hoping to tackle.
