Description

Texas songwriter Kent Finlay died Monday morning of cancer at his home in San Marcos.

He opened the Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos in 1974, a honky tonk that helped nurture the careers of many Texas artists including George Strait, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Terri Hendrix.

KUT’s Nathan Bernier speaks with Texas music writer and biographer Joe Nick Patoski about Kent Finlay and his legacy.
