Even though football teams who consider themselves to be rivals often like to highlight their supposedly apparent differences, in actuality, rivals are more alike than they are different. They share a common goal, for which they are competing.
These rivalries allow us as humans to have a friendly competition, which we enjoy greatly. Rivalries can be very energizing and allow us to bond with our close communities over successes or failures of our teams. Rivals are far from being enemies.
