Description

The system of Direct Provision was set up as an emergency measure in 1999. It is intended to provide asylum seekers with accommodation while waiting for a decision on their refugee status. It’s been long criticised by human rights organisations.

Cónal Thomas is a journalist who has been reporting on Direct Provision. He shares the surprising difficulties he’s faced obtaining data on those who have sadly died within the system and what happens to their bodies after their death.
