Description

In this episode, Pat Garry shares stories of Dublin's hidden history via its secret graveyards and fascinating cemeteries. He is a tour guide and does talks and tours with Richmond Barracks and 14 Henrietta Street — Dublin's tenement museum. Pat explains the macabre and surprisingly widespread business of bodysnatching to keep the many anatomy schools - both in Dublin and London - supplied during the 19th century. He also speaks about the tragic fate of the Irish Famine refugees who came to flee the countryside and starvation only to die in the city.
