I first saw a Strawbotamus in Facebook when my friend Bex Kneale randomly drew one. I asked her if i could use her drawing for an album cover. She said yes. Days passed and after an extra long bath I accidentally wrote a lyric for a Strawbotamus then compiled the album.
Now it is done and I Think the song is about being ignorantly mocked for being different. Might be autobiographical, might be about a friend who despite all that life throws at her, sits there, looking pretty and understanding the Full Use of herself and all around her. I find the lyric to be very Zen, like a little Taoists tail, though i did not realize it when writing. I hope you see it too and enjoy the dance of life within and without us all. Visible and blind but not dumb. Spelling mistakes intenshonAL.
Be Nice. Be Kind
Strawbotamus
I'm just going to sit here, looking pretty
And if a bird sits on my back
Puts her beak deep in a crack, in my skin
She just might find a Beatle
I have uses. I have uses
Strawbotamus. And I would hate to cause a fuss
Strawbotamus. And I have never used a bus
I knew a snake called Tango
She got into a tangle
And when she ate a rabbit
She couldn't kick the habit
She has uses. She has uses
With a bird sitting on my back
Got her beak deep in a crack, in my skin
Eating Beatles, she found there
They have uses. Wooooooh!
They have uses. Wooooooh!
Strawbotamus
Sitting. Looking pretty
Be Nice. Be Kind
