Hailing from the Yorkshire Dales just outside of Leeds, Balrog has supplanted himself in the darker and heavier side of the genre with a focus on heavy unrelenting drums, driving bass and obscure distorted vocals.
Virtual Underground : What inspires your work?
Balrog: I think I’m inspired most by the varied genres of music I listen to. Obviously i listen to a lot of techno but I love Chicago house, DnB, Disco, Rock, Metal. It all influences my productions. Also I love to sample films or elements of films, as is probably apparent from my artist name I’m a huge Lord Of The Rings fan and it often creeps in to my work. One of my latest releases on Yucatech Recordings “I See You” is a classic example.
