Ladies and gentlemen, and now for something completely different: Vague Entity presents Cold Signals, a journey into dark techno. No politics, no chaos, no industrial, no –core, this is Dennis exploring a purist approach of techno production.
Bold kicks, a continued progression of hypnotic build-ups, an underwood of textural electronics and occasional short breaths of ambience render this a highly entertaining 56 minutes, all tracks dual-purpose weapons for either the dance floor or armchair head nodding. Also this is an album in its best sense, as you might notice a growing anxiety, an increase of urgency by metallic and raw sounds continually ousting the spaciousness.
Truly this is a spot-on take on the genre (which Vague Entity hasn’t tackled before) and the question is for you whether this is to remain a one-off or should it evolve into a regular side-project? We think you should carefully appreciate the Cold Signals!
