Art Historian and professor Erica Moiah James joins host Nicholas Forster this episode to discuss her life as an artist, curator and scholar. Before becoming a professor at Yale University, James was founding Director and Chief Curator of the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas, an experience she describes in detail. Explaining the role of art in her childhood and the relationship between artists and academics, James explores the complicated ways that different creative pursuits emerge as callings. Highlighting the role of mentorship, James also reveals the necessity of collaboration to any project, even those we think of as singularly authored.
