(from the CD Beyond the Beyond and Further Beyond)
Electric Cello live looping performance caught on record. A hand drum was then added as overdub. I was playing the cello through a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx II guitar amp/effect processor, hence the "collage of sound" as I could swap between patches while playing to layer parts in the looper.
Even though I can't really play the cello I enjoy the control you get over envelope dependent effects when bowing. I mean, if playing through a resonant filter you just press the bow a little harder to the string and the filter opens up accordingly. This is very different from playing guitar or Stick through this amp, as each note is kicked off just once, by plucking the string, and then it is left to its own devices for effects to fade away as the string vibration dies out.
