I recorded the sax melody with the AKG clip-on fly mic you see in the picture. The sax is a tenor, a P.Mauriat Influence model. It has a fat and dark sound that I'm balancing with a bright mouthpiece, a metal Theo Wanne Shiva 3 opening #9 armed with a soft Légère American Cut synthetic reed. To get that trumpet-like tone I was playing through an envelope-following Moog filter. The orchestral sounds around the sax were all played on the laptop with software synths.
