Greg Tomaz launches his debut appearance on Juicebox Music with a 2-track EP titled ‘Alchemic Substance’, for our 15th release. Originally hailing from Kochi (Kerala, India) and currently based in Bangalore (Karnataka, India), Greg dabbled in the clubbing circuit for a couple of years, eventually finding his deeper & darker sound. Keen on creating his own stories, he picked up learning music production in 2011 earning him releases on refined labels like Balkan Connection South America, Particles, Stripped Digital & Soundteller. Without being pigeonholed to a particular style, his versatility comes from his choice of tones & grooves with atmospherics as his forte. A prime example would be this EP itself.
‘Alchemic Angels’, a brooding deep-tech piece, kicks off the release with faint yet hypnotic pads setting the mood while bursts of melodic synth-lines & effects occasionally get sprinkled around, whirling into a tension-filled stretch as it progresses. To further add to the pressure, an arpeggiated & dirty riff screams into the the spacial breakdown where the storm eventually calms down and we’re back to business. ’The Substance of Feeling’ goes on a more emotive & soul-searching path with a sharp yet groovy percussive bed laying foundation to scores of haunting atmospherics and drenched out melodic leads from a world far, far away.
