Making his debut on Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music is London (UK) based Nichols, with a 4-track EP titled ‘Nascent State’. Grant Nichols along with Matt Tanner (Dysart) made waves under their techno-outfit ‘Soul of Noise’, having played alongside Carl Cox’s ‘Playground Experience’ stage at Burning Man as well as the Bedrock night at Fire&Lightbox in London. His solo outing as “Nichols” started off with a bang when his debut ‘Ethereality’ EP got signed to Nick Warren’s “The Soundgarden”, earning numerous plays & heavy support from Hernan Cattaneo, Marc Poppcke and the main man himself.
Wasting no time & bringing it all to the table, Nichols’ ‘Nascent State’ EP infuses the deeper & more melodic soundscapes along with tough tech-grooves, a sound that Nichols’ is honing to perfection. The EP wades through the darker waters with “Timeslide”, to the warmer territory on “Harlequin”, leading to the brighter & euphoric lift of “Nascent State” and culminating with “The Stand”, a fitting melancholic finale.
