Hyperdub is a label known for its innovative eye. New signing Proc Fiskal, real name Joe Powers, is part of a burgeoning new scene of grime in Scotland. Alongside artists like Shogun (from Paisley), Polonis (Glasgow) and Ransom FA (Aberdeen), the Edinburgh beatmaker is joining a slew of producers and MCs making waves up north. Proc's EP 'The Highland Mob' drops at the beginning of May, and it takes grime to new heights by inching up the BPM to 160, engineering an entirely new sound that'll please DJs eager to bridge the gap between footwork and grime. He's mixed us an almost entirely 100% production set, which is buoyed up by some tracks from fellow Scot Polonis as well as a shot of Loefah's seminal 'Disko Rekah', and is a heady ride of grime, bass and footwork to kick off the Easter weekend.
