KONE STRENGTHENS MARKET POSITION IN HONG KONG
KONE has strengthened its regional market position with the acquisition of Shan On Engineering Co. of Hong Kong, founded in 1973 and specializing in elevator maintenance, modernization and installation. Shan On has approximately 1,000 elevators in its maintenance portfolio. KONE owned 35.3% of Shan On before buying the remaining shares. William B. Johnson, executive vice president for KONE, Greater China welcomed Shan On employees, noting the company has “an excellent reputation and a wide client base."

32-STORY RESIDENTIAL TOWER MOVES FORWARD IN L.A.
A 32-story, 346-ft.-tall tower with approximately 240 residences, 5,700 sq. ft. of retail and parking for nearly 300 vehicles is planned on a site at 920 S. Hill Street behind the popular Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, Urbanize LA reports. The L.A. City Planning Commission is poised to approve the project, along with a sister property at 6th and Main streets, after approving another tower at Broadway and Olympic earlier this year. The latest project is one of four being developed by Barry Shy and designed by architect David Takacs. The rather basic, rectangular structure will have studio to three-bedroom units, along with communal amenities such as a gym and rooftop deck.

NEW VT FOR RAIL STATIONS IN MUMBAI
Stations along Central Railway in Mumbai, India’s most populous city, are set to get 25 lifts and 52 escalators by March 2018, United News of India reports. There are six stations along the Main Line set to receive new vertical-transportation (VT) equipment and five on the Harbour Line. A railway official said busy stations, such as Dadar and Thane, will be given priority.

25-STORY RESIDENTIAL TOWER TOPS OUT IN LOWER MANHATTAN
A 25-story residential tower developed by Murat Agirnasli and Partners at 570 Broome Street in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Lower Manhattan has topped out, with residents expected to move in by fall 2018, New York YIMBY reports. Inspired by the neighborhood’s printing-district heritage, the property boasts large, framed windows and tall ceilings. Skidmore Owings & Merrill designed the interiors and lobby, with Builtd designing the rest. The units do not come cheap, averaging US$2.7 million and starting at US$1.35 million.
