32 ELEVATORS, 13 ESCALATORS UNVEILED BY LRTA IN PHILIPPINES
Thirty-two elevators and 13 escalators were unveiled on October 19 as part of a multimillion-U.S. dollar overhaul of 11 Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) stations from Santolan to Recto in Manila, the Philippines, The Manila Times reports. The contractor said something may have triggered the unit’s safety mechanism or that “a cat may have been stuck under it.”

DALLAS DEVELOPMENT WOULD INCLUDE CITY’S TALLEST
A 20-acre skyscraper campus being planned in downtown Dallas includes an office building that, at 73 stories, would be the tallest in the city, The Dallas Morning News reports. KDC, the developer behind the US$3-billion Legacy West development in nearby Plano, is partnering with landowner Hoque Global on this latest project, dubbed Dallas Smart District. Between City Hall and Interstate 30, the eight-block development would replace parking lots and old buildings with office, retail and hotel space designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli. Drawings show more than six high-rise buildings, along with green space. The first phase would include up to 1 million sq. ft. of office space, a grocery store and a boutique hotel.

A smaller hotel called 4 Manhattan West will round out the development. 2 Manhattan West will sit at the northwest corner of 31st Street and Ninth Avenue.

40-STORY RESIDENTIAL PLAN IN GROWING MELBOURNE AREA
