WITTUR BRAZIL MOVES COMMERCIAL OFFICE
The Brazilian branch of the Wittur Group is moving its commercial department to a new office in São Paulo to better accommodate customers. Its 10,000-m2 manufacturing facility in Londrina remains unchanged. "The new venue features more comfortable and better space to meet the needs of Wittur's growing business in Brazil," said Wittur Brazil Commercial Manager Christiano Troise. As of February 20, the address is Av. 35 ESCALATORS, 15 ELEVATORS FOR INDIAN METRO STATION
The three-decked Central Metro in Chennai, India, described as the “mother of metro stations,” will have 35 escalators and 15 elevators, The Times of India reports. Built by Afcons Infrastructure, the station is set to open in a couple of months and will be Chennai Metro Rail Ltd.’s biggest at 300,000 sq. ft. A former rail official said, with more than twice the number of facilities and amenities of other stations, Central Metro will rival stations in London and New York City.
TRANSFORMATIVE FOUR-TOWER PROJECT FOR FRANKFURT
Developer Groß & Partner unanimously chose UNStudio's FOUR Frankfurt plan for a mixed-use development in the heart of Frankfurt, Germany, consisting of four 228-m-tall (roughly 69-story) towers, World Architecture News reports. Working with HPP Architects, UNStudio aims to establish a "lively new neighborhood" that links the city's shopping and high-rise office districts. Purchased by Groß & Partner in 2015, the 16,000-m2 site has been inaccessible for the past 45 years. FOUR Frankfurt includes a multilevel base and incorporates the heritage façades of nearby structures.
ELEVATOR INSPECTION CERTIFICATE ISSUES AT WMATA
Elevators with missing or expired inspection certificates were found at five Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) stations in Washington, D.C., by the Federal Transit Administration during inspections in October-November 2017, WTOP reports. There were four elevators with missing or expired certificates at Friendship Heights, three at Pentagon City, and two each at the Pentagon, L’Enfant Plaza and Archives. Missing or expired inspection certificates joined other issues, including corroded tracks and water leaks. It is unclear when and how the issues are to be resolved.
