ALIMAK GROUP MAKES MAJOR ACQUISITION
Alimak Group has announced the acquisition of Façade Access Holdings, a building maintenance unit (BMU) provider headquartered in Australia with 600 employees worldwide. Façade Access owns the CoxGomyl and Manntech brands and has installed systems on 90% of the world's tallest 12 buildings. The deal, worth US$91 million and described by Alimak CEO Tormod Gunleiksrud as “a strong strategic fit,” is expected to close by the end of this year.

NEW RENDERINGS SHOWCASE L.A. “MEGA PROJECT”
Oceanwide Real Estate Group has released new renderings by Visualhouse showcasing its US$1-billion Oceanwide Plaza "mega project" in downtown Los Angeles, close to the Staples Center, Architects Newspaper reports. RTKL is the architect for the development, for which Lerch Bates Inc. is designing the vertical-transportation system. A 677-ft.-tall, 49-story building will house a Park Hyatt hotel and condominiums, and a pair of 530-ft.-tall, 40-story towers will house condominiums. There will also be a 100-ft.-tall retail podium.

CHINATOWN TOWER MAKES HEADWAY IN PHILADELPHIA
A US$76-million, 23-story mixed-use structure, Chinatown Eastern Tower, is making headway near downtown Philadelphia thanks to a US$1.3-million state grant, SkyriseCities reports, with groundbreaking expected by the end of the year. Developed by Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corp., the building is set to contain approximately 150 residential units, a 17,000-sq.-ft. community center, 21,000 sq. ft. of offices in a podium and ground-level retail on or near Vine Street. Completion is anticipated by fall 2017.
