BELARUSIAN LIFT COMPANY GROWS IN RUSSIA AND BEYOND
Mogilev, Belarus-based OAO Mogilevliftmash exported 7,842 lifts from January-September, representing a 26.6% increase from the same time last year, Belarus News reports. More than 70% of its exports are sold in Russia, but the company has also sold to Afghanistan, Venezuela, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. It sold its first lifts to Germany this year, and is laying the groundwork for further growth by investing in manufacturing equipment. Over the past decade OAO Mogilevliftmash purchased approximately 300 new pieces of equipment, resulting in an increase in manufacturing capacity by more than 50%. It has more than 130 models and plans to soon start manufacturing escalators.
BIG HEIGHT BUMP FOR FINANCIAL DISTRICT TOWER IN NYC
A mixed-use tower at the corner of Fulton and Dutch streets in New York City’s (NYC) Financial District that will contain approximately 480 residential units has gotten a significant height bump from its originally planned 49 stories, New York YIMBY reports. Now slated to stand 63 stories and 758 ft., 19 Dutch will encompass 595,140 sq. ft. and have 8,100 sq. ft. of retail on the lower floors. Completion is anticipated in 2018. Carmel Partners is the developer and the architect is SLCE Architects.
CEA CHRISTMAS PARTY COMING UP
The Chicago Elevator Association’s (CEA) annual Christmas party is coming up on December 7. The venue is Dana Hotel and Spa at 600 North State Street in Chicago. Festivities including live music, food, drinks and prizes start at 6:30 p.m. For CEA members, one person per company may attend free of charge, with each additional person admitted for US$65 and US$95 for nonmembers.
