425 PARK AVENUE RISING IN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN
425 Park Avenue (ELENET 626), "one of the most interesting redevelopment projects" in Manhattan, New York City, has reached the 16th of what will ultimately be 47 floors, New York YIMBY reports. Foster + Partners is responsible for the design, featuring setbacks and a triple-height amenity area for office tenants. L&L Holdings, GreenOak Real Estate Advisors and Tokyu Land Corp. are the developers, preserving 25% of the original office structure, designed in the 1950s by Kahn & Jacobs. 425 Park Avenue will rise 893 ft. to its architectural top and span 620,000 sq. ft., 200,000 of which has been leased by Citadel. Completion is anticipated in early 2019.

CHINESE, MOROCCAN FIRMS TO BUILD AFRICA’S TALLEST TOWER
Construction companies from China and Morocco are planning a joint venture to build Africa’s tallest skyscraper, China.org.cn reports. The 45-story, mixed-use tower will be built in the Moroccan capital of Rabat. It will include office space, a hotel and luxury apartments, and be built to ecological and sustainable design concepts, the website reported. The China Railway Construction Corp. is teaming up with Travaux Generaux de Construction de Casablanca to build the 250-m-tall, US$375-million tower, which will be the central focus of a large-scale development in Rabat’s Bouregreg Valley.

An 11-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital after falling from an escalator inside a shopping center in Manchester, U.K. Police say she suffered suspected head and other injuries, but her condition was not known. The accident happened at the Wheatsheaf shopping precinct in Rochdale town center just after 3 p.m. on May 21, but it was not known how far the girl fell. It also was not immediately clear what caused the accident, though there was no indication she was pushed or that the escalator collapsed.

DOWNTOWN SEATTLE CONDO TOWER UNDERWAY
A high-rise residential tower under construction in downtown Seattle is one of the few condo communities planned in the neighborhood through the end of the decade, developers say, even though the market has been red-hot for several years. The Seattle Times reports that NEXUS, a 41-story, 382-unit tower reminiscent of a stack of cubes, will offer owners amenities in common areas that cover more than 21,000 sq. ft. across multiple levels, including a fitness center with adjacent yoga room, a lobby lounge with retail space and more. The building, at 1200 Howell Street, is expected to open in mid 2019. It was designed by Weber Thompson architects and developed by Burrard Group.
