ECHO BRICKELL WELCOMES RESIDENTS IN MIAMI
Private elevators are among amenities at the Carlos A. Ott-designed Echo Brickell, a 57-story, 180-unit tower that SkyRise Cities says is now home to approximately 300 residents just south of downtown Miami in the red-hot Brickell neighborhood. Besides the elevators, the property by JDS Development and Property Markets Group features a 12,000-gallon aquarium in the main lobby housing an array of tropical fish. With a swooping, undulating profile, the structure boasts generous balconies, and shared amenities such as an infinity pool and fitness center. The top floors have penthouse suites, which presumably are the ones with their own private elevators.
LANDMARK RESIDENTIAL BUILDING SET FOR VANCOUVER
Demolition recently began on a high-rise hotel in Vancouver, Canada, that is making way for a new, two-tower residential building, the Vancouver Sun reported. The new structure, at 1400 Robson Street, will be known as the Landmark on Robson and have towers of 34 and 32 stories, joined by a podium that will hold common amenities, such as a pool, landscaped gardens and a lounge area. The ground floor will hold retail space, and there will be two floors of offices on top of that. The real amenities for residents, however, are the "Sky Terraces," large balconies that afford spectacular views of the city and the mountains beyond. The developer is ASNA Robson Landmark Holdings, and designers are PDP London and Vancouver-based MCM. Demolition of the hotel should be finished in March 2019, but a construction timetable for the new building was not reported.
FOUNDATION WORK STARTS ON 40-STORY NYC RESIDENTIAL TOWER
New York YIMBY says that foundation work had started for 77 Greenwich Street (42 Trinity Place), a 40-story residential tower being developed by Trinity Place Holdings and designed by FX Collaborative. Containing 90 units and a grade school, the design will incorporate the historic, Federal-style Robert and Anne Dickey House. Three sides of the main structure will be clad in glass, with the remaining side covered in masonry. Scheduled for completion in the second half of 2019, 77 Greenwich joins other notable towers under construction or recently completed nearby including 50 West Street, 125 Greenwich Street and 68-74 Trinity Place.
30-STORY, MIXED-USE TOWER PROPOSED IN WEST PHILADELPHIA
EPG Urban Multifamily has proposed a 30-story tower with 420 apartments and 4,000 sq. ft. of retail for the Newman Center site in University City, west Philadelphia, Curbed Philadelphia reports. Located between two stone churches, the site is covered in asphalt. EPG would add landscaping and paving designed to manage stormwater and reduce heat. The base of the building would have brick and stone masonry to complement the churches, with glass-and-metal panels above. The project, at 3720 Chestnut Street, would also add 40 underground parking spaces and room to park 140 bicycles. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia was under contract to sell the site earlier this year.
