MIXED-USE STANTEC TOWER RISING IN EDMONTON
The 66-story Stantec Tower, which will be home to engineering firm Stantec and other corporate entities, as well as approximately 480 condominiums, is rising in Edmonton, Canada's ICE District, SkyRise Cities reports. The first 28 floors will have offices, with the remainder housing condos. Designed by Stantec, the building will be connected to neighboring towers, boast an approximately 500-space parking area and be energy efficient. It will be the tallest structure in Edmonton. Offices are scheduled for delivery in 2018, with the residential portion set to open in fall 2019.
ELLIPSE-SHAPED RESIDENTIAL TOWER FOR CHICAGO’S GREEKTOWN
One South Halsted, an ellipse-shaped, 44-story tower being developed by Fifield Cos. and F&F Realty, promises to be the tallest building west of the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago, Curbed Chicago reports. Rising 500 ft., the building is set to contain close to 500 apartments, ground-level retail and a 375-stall parking garage. Located in the heart of Greektown, the tower's design features a boxy podium and metal and glass façade conceived by FitzGerald Associates Architects. Construction permits were obtained in late January.
ELEVATORS, ESCALATORS PART OF RAVENS STADIUM UPGRADE
Elevators and escalators to the upper deck of M&T Bank Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore will be part of a US$120-million upgrade already underway, WBAL Channel 11 reports. The project encompasses a new sound system, ultra-high-definition video displays and improved kitchen facilities. Vertical-transportation equipment will be installed in the second and third phases of the three-year project.
