FILIPINO MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTOR FOCUSED ON TRAINING
Filipino-owned Mitsubishi Electric elevator distributor International Elevator & Equipment Inc. (IEE) is expanding its partnership with Don Bosco School in Manila, Cebu and Iloilo to train workers as the Philippines undergoes a continued construction boom, the Manila Bulletin reports. At the Philconstruct tradeshow recently, IEE President Ramoncito Ocampo said the company plans to have three training areas, observing it has already built a training tower for elevator/escalator installers and donated equipment to train students on air-conditioner installation. Don Bosco students are currently learning to assemble scaffolding for elevators, which account for roughly half of IEE's annual revenue. Ocampo said a steady supply of manpower is essential for sustaining the 10% growth IEE had in 2018. The company sells approximately 1,000 elevators a year, and maintains roughly 8,000 elevators.
