HIGH TECHNOLOGY FOR MARINE ELEVATORS
Demand for advanced technology and installation practices is rising as the size of cruise ships and ferries continues to grow and more services and attractions are added to them. Schindler Marine is coming close to installing its Personal Occupant Requirement Terminal system, in the passenger shipping sector, Passenger Ship Technology states. KONE's Marine Solutions division is offering competing technology with various combinations of operating modes, traffic control and connected controls. Netherlands-based Lift, which focuses on the ferry and superyacht segment, has also recently introduced “a special inverter" on its hydraulic power packs and a preassembly method that can greatly increase installation speed.

The source said the residential high rise on Field Street would be the tallest downtown building since construction began on the 42-story Museum Tower condominium building in the Arts District in 2010. It will rise more than 40 stories and contain 367 rental units. Construction is expected to begin this summer. ConstructionDIVE adds that the building will join a host of high-rise residential developments underway in Dallas as the Texas residential construction sector booms to meet growing demand.

MÁLAGA HOTEL ENDORSED BUT CONTROVERSIAL
Suites Málaga Port was endorsed by the city council in September 2016, but, more recently, those opposing the proposed 443-ft.-tall tower in Málaga, Spain, have made their voices heard. Their complaints are its potential “unsustainability and visual and environmental impact,” according to G3 Newswire. The initial endorsement was only for the 35-story hotel, but a casino could also be part of the overall proposal. It is to have 352 rooms, 485 parking spaces, and a spa, shopping center, conference center and swimming pools. Euro Weekly News reported the “destination hotel” could create an estimated 1,300 construction jobs, with 350 additional jobs when it opens in 2020.
