INDIAN RAILWAY STATION GETTING VERTICAL TRANSPORTATION
The INR15.6-million (US$217,600) budget to install escalators and a lift at Mohali railway station in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, India, has cleared, The Times of India recently reported. Railway sources said the lift is likely to be installed near the ticket-booking and inquiry counters close to the station's entrance. An inspection by Northern Railway General Manager T.P. Singh was performed last year and focused on the need for improvements in security and public conveniences. Constructed in 2006, the station has seen gradual growth in both passengers and trains.
