COLUMBIA ADDS NEW POSITIONS IN EXPANSION
Columbia Elevator Products Co. Inc. has announced that, as part of its ongoing expansion, it has added three further areas of responsibility and positions. Lawrence Moreno, who will be based in Columbia’s Winfield, Kansas, facility, is assuming the position of quality manager, in addition to the responsibility for overseeing safety issues. Tom Hannah, operating from Columbia’s Miami location, assumes the title of engineering sales, and Greg Mullin, also in Florida, assumes the title of estimating/sales. Hannah and Mullin have been with the company since 2015 and have more than 40 and 20 years of experience in the elevator industry, respectively.
JAPANESE OEMs LOOK BEYOND CHINA FOR PROFITS
Japanese OEMs, such as Mitsubishi Electric, Hitachi, Toshiba Elevator and Fujitec, are increasing their presence in Asian markets outside of China as growth in the world's largest elevator market contracts, Nikkei Asian Review reports. India is a particular focus, with Mitsubishi Electric planning to add five business and four maintenance offices, and more than double employment in India to 2,200 by 2020. Toshiba Elevator plans to focus on units for low- and mid-rise buildings in India, increasing annual capacity at its Malaysian facility by 25% to 2,000 by 2018 to support anticipated growth.
