KEB AMERICA CERTIFIED TO NEW ISO STANDARD
KEB America, Inc. has announced the ISO 9001:2015 certification of its Shakopee, Minnesota, production facility. The certification was issued after the facility met the criteria set by The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and passed an audit displaying zero nonconformities. ISO 9001:2015 applies to a facility’s quality-management and quality-assurance systems. The company had previously been certified under 9001:2008. The 2015 standard is similar in many ways to the previous one, but with an additional focus on risk management. KEB was able to demonstrate processes to address issues posted by ISO in this area and reevaluated and updated its plans.

About 35 engineers from 20 companies participated, including manufacturers Meiller and Siemens, KEB, Variotech, and Ziehl-Abegg. CiA’s Special Interest Group (SIG) CANopen Lift discussed the next steps for CiA 417 development, agreeing to adapt the CANopen FD application layer for future versions. THREE HURT WHEN ESCALATOR CHANGES DIRECTION
Three people at a New Jersey rail transit station were hurt when an escalator they were riding suddenly reversed direction, causing them to fall, northjersey.com reports. Police said the injured were riding up an escalator at NJ Transit's Secaucus Junction station on May 29 when it suddenly changed direction. Two of the injured declined medical treatment, but the third was taken to a hospital. An NJ Transit spokeswoman said the hospitalized rider did not suffer life-threatening injuries. The escalator was taken out of service while the issue was being investigated. It was determined to be a brake problem, which was quickly repaired, nj.com reported.
