KONE FOLLOWS THROUGH WITH U.S. JUMPLIFT DEBUT
KONE has begun to utilize its JumpLift self-climbing elevator as it constructs two of the elevators in Seattle, where it is fulfilling its contract to the 45-story Hyatt Regency Seattle Convention Center Hotel. The event marks JumpLift's U.S. debut. Once construction is completed, KONE will deliver and service 16 MiniSpace™ elevators in the hotel tower, 12 TravelMaster™ escalators, six KONE MonoSpace® elevators and two large freight elevators. Upon completion in 2018, the building will be the largest hotel in the Pacific Northwest with 1,264 rooms.
ELEVATORS, ESCALATORS FOR 137 INDIAN SKYWALKS
The government in Bengaluru, India, has mandated that 137 pedestrian skywalks be outfitted with elevators and/or escalators, The Economic Times reports. Currently, nine such projects have opened and another seven are underway. Being done through a public-private partnership that gives successful bidders the right to earn advertising revenue from their investments over 30 years, the effort promises to ease pedestrian mobility throughout the city.
INDONESIA’S WTC 3 TOPS OUT
Building owners and local officials gathered in the central business district of Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 12 for a topping-out ceremony for World Trade Centre 3, a 42-story office building scheduled to open in early 2018, the developers, PT Central Cipta Murdaya (CCM) and Hongkong Land, announced. Spanning 73,000 m2 and joining four other towers in the WTC complex, the building will boast high-speed elevators, five levels of parking and a four-story retail podium. Already the recipient of several awards, WTC 3 is “the most modern office building in Indonesia,” CCM stated.
CONDOMINIUM TOWER RISING IN MELBOURNE’S SOUTH YARRA
A 30-story condominium tower, 661 Chapel Street, is rising and expected to open in 2018 in the bustling South Yarra district of Melbourne, Australia, SkyRise Cities reports. It will house approximately 130 residences and amenities including a rooftop lap pool, four-level lobby with elaborate art installations, two-story library and enclosed winter garden. It was designed by Bird de la Coeur Architects and is being developed by Gamuda Land. High-end luxury suites will be on floors 22 and above.
