NEW LIFT DIRECTIVE GOING INTO EFFECT IN EUROPE
On April 20, the new Lift Directive goes into effect in every European member state, Liftinstituut announced. In contrast to the new EN 81-20 and -50 standards, there is no transition period. The changes within the directive are mainly legal and establish general terms and conditions regarding accreditation, more stringent market surveillance and conformity procedures. EC certificates remain valid as long as the certified products and technology remain unchanged. Liftinstituut has created a checklist to help those affected assess their compliance.
