KONE WINS 74-UNIT ORDER FOR MADRID RAIL STATION
KONE has won a contract to modernize 74 units as part of a major renovation at Madrid's Atocha train station, the Spanish capital's main station and hub of the nation's rail network. The order, which KONE announced on July 24, calls for 60 heavy-duty TransitMaster™ escalators and 14 MonoSpace® elevators, all in the commuter train area of the station, plus 25 years of maintenance. The renovation is scheduled for completion in 2023 and will help Atocha accommodate up to 87 million passengers per year.
