SILVERSTEIN TALKS ABOUT CURRENT PROJECTS
In an interview with New York YIMBY, Larry Silverstein discussed Silverstein Properties’ upcoming projects in New York City, including the World Trade Center’s (WTC) last remaining office supertall, to be built at 200 Greenwich Street. He said that 2 WTC, as it is called, should be complete by 2025 and may still resemble the Norman Foster design, which was unveiled in 2007, though an anchor tenant is yet to be found. He also said the scope of the company’s current work is expanding into Journal Square, Queens and residential high-rise rental housing, with nearly 3,000 rental units on the way. He added that the impending demolition of the Union Carbide Building at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East (making way for a 70-story, 2.5-million-sq.-ft. tower to serve as the new JPMorgan Chase headquarters) is “a terrific step forward.”
