MBTA CUSTOMERS APPLAUD NEWLY ACCESSIBLE STATION
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) customers who use the Wollaston station applauded completion of US$36 million in upgrades including three new elevators and two new escalators, CBS Boston reports. The station had been closed since January 2018 as the new vertical-transportation (VT) equipment was installed and new bathrooms and energy-efficient lighting were added. Wollaston had been the only non-accessible station along the MBTA Red Line. One rider described the upgrades as “awesome,” with another saying she is “thrilled” to see the new VT equipment, since she lives with mobility issues.
