ALIMAK ACQUIRES AVANTI WIND SYSTEMS
Alimak Group has acquired Avanti Wind Systems, a supplier of service lifts for wind turbine towers worldwide. Established in 1885 and with factories in Brazil, China, Denmark, Spain and the U.S., Avanti has more than 30,000 lifts worldwide. The acquisition brings Alimak's employment from 1,900 to 2,300, and its installed base from 36,000 to 66,000 units. Describing the acquisition as “well in line with Alimak’s strategy and business model,” CEO Tormod Gunleisksrud said increasing tower heights and more stringent safety requirements promise to drive demand for service lifts for wind-turbine towers.

SEATTLE STATION DETAILS OUTLINED
The regional transportation system of Greater Seattle, Sound Transit, has awarded a contract to Hoffman Construction Co. to build its Roosevelt Station in early 2017, RT&S reported. The US$152-million contract includes constructing civil, structural and architectural designs for the underground station and includes the installation of elevators and escalators. The station is to serve Northgate Link Extension trains when the line launches its light-rail service in 2021. The US$1.9-billion extension will add 4.3 mi. of light-rail service north from the University of Washington, allowing riders to use Roosevelt Station for a 10-min. ride to the local downtown area and a 44-min. ride to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
