FENTON-SCOTT NAMED SERVICE SALES MANAGER AT APEX
London-based Apex Lifts has named Soni Fenton-Scott Service Sales manager. With more than 20 years' experience in the industry, he will be responsible for growing the company and meeting with prospective clients throughout the southeast U.K. Fenton-Scott began his career in the lift industry at a large international company, going on to study for his degree in Lift Engineering and focus his career on the independent market. As a holder of the EOR202 Basic Lift Safety qualification, he will also conduct lift-equipment surveys.
GROWTH FOR MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC IN PHILIPPINES
Mitsubishi Electric division International Elevator & Equipment, Inc. (IEEI) reports strong demand for elevators and escalators in the Philippines as public infrastructure spending is projected to increase by 14% based on the 2017 national budget, Business World Online reports. With sales currently at 800 units per year, IEEI expects to sell approximately 2,400 units over the next three years as it partners with large property developers such as Ayala Corp. It has also supplied units to large public infrastructure projects such as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila and is rehabilitating the escalators and elevators in Metro Rail Transit-3 I.
NIAGARA FALLS FUNICULAR TO BE REACTIVATED
Maid of the Mist Incline, a funicular dormant since 1990 on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, is set to be reactivated as part of a CAD3-million refurbishment project that includes four elevators in the Maid of the Mist cruise ship complex, the Niagara Falls Review reports. Hornblower Niagara Cruises has hired AnCam Solutions Co. Ltd. of Oakville, Canada, and Heller Manus of San Francisco to engineer and design the revitalized funicular, which will have two cars, each with a capacity of 56. Joining one other funicular, it is expected to begin operations in summer 2017. Hornblower Niagara observed the overall project promises to increase passenger capacity by 100% and significantly increase the number of rides it offers daily from the current 48.
