MANZO TAPPED TO LEAD HR FOR KONE AMERICAS
KONE has named Nicole Manzo executive vice president of Human Resources at KONE Americas, where she will oversee HR functions for approximately 7,000 employees. Based in Lisle, Illinois, Manzo reports directly to KONE Americas Executive Vice President Larry Wash. Manzo has extensive HR leadership experience, most recently at Abbot Diagnostics. She has handled coaching, employee engagement, recruiting and training, and developed and executed strategies, including those related to benefits, payroll and reward programs. Spending time abroad, she designed and deployed HR transformation initiatives for entities similar in size to KONE. Manzo holds a bachelor's degree in HR Management from DePaul University.
LATEST PROPOSAL FOR MIAMI’S BRICKELL NEIGHBORHOOD
Karam Group and Claro Development have proposed a 76-story residential tower at SW 8th Street and S. Miami Avenue in Miami's rapidly transforming Brickell neighborhood, SkyRise Cities reports. Inspired by the growth of a flower with balconies getting larger as they go up, "18" would have approximately 390 condominiums, a 66,618-sq.-ft. retail podium and 464-spot parking garage. Designed by Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates, Inc., 18 would have an expansive outdoor amenity area atop the podium. It would be built on the site of a Burger King restaurant, immediately south of downtown.
WOMAN’S LEG CUT IN MALAYSIA ESCALATOR ACCIDENT
Authorities are investigating a March 5 incident at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, in which a 20-year-old woman suffered a calf gash while riding on an escalator, the Inquirer reports. Online photos show a piece of metal protruding into the center of the escalator, presumably after becoming unhinged from the side. A mall spokesman said the escalator would have had to have been subjected to some abuse for the metal to become loose..
