NYC PLANNING COMMISSION GREELIGHTS FOUR SKYSCRAPERS
The City Planning Commission in New York City (NYC) has greenlit four residential skyscrapers in the Two Bridges neighborhood, including the 1,008-ft.-tall 247 Cherry Street designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS Development that drew controversy for its potential impact on the neighborhood, New York YIMBY reports. Site work is imminent, with an anticipated completion by 2022. The design features a green exterior and open sections about every third of the way up that will serve as outdoor viewing spaces. Also gaining approval are 728- and 798-ft.-tall towers at 260 South Street designed by Handel Architects and developed by CIM and a 724-ft.-tall tower at 259 Clinton Street designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by Starrett. Together, the four skyscrapers will bring 3,000 new apartments to the neighborhood.
