PROTESTORS DECRY PROPOSED “TRUMP TOWER OF NORWAY”
Historic preservationists and residents of the Fornebu area of Bærum, Norway, are furious about Norwegian industrialist Kjell Ing Rokke’s plan to build a 60-story skyscraper in Forenbu developed by FP Eiendom, newsinenglish.no reports. While protestors are calling the tower “Norway’s version of Trump Tower,” local and national politicians are more amenable to it, with Norway Prime Minister Erna Solberg calling it a “handsome blue building.” Plans for the tower, intended to house the headquarters of pollution research center World Ocean, were publicly unveiled on October 9. If built, it would be 80 m taller than Norway’s current tallest structure, the 34-story Oslo Plaza hotel.
