SALESFORCE MAKES COMMITMENT TO CHICAGO TOWER OFFICIAL
San Francisco software giant Salesforce made its intention to anchor a new skyscraper in Chicago’s Wolf Point development at the confluence of the north and east branches of the Chicago River (ELENET 749 and 719) official in late November with an announcement detailing its plans, the Chicago Tribune reports. Under a long-term, multimillion-dollar lease, Salesforce will fill approximately 500,000 sq. ft. in the 60-story building, which will be outfitted with a Salesforce sign with 11-ft.-tall letters. The company plans to occupy floors five through 23 and 55-57 and, as it has done in other cities, make its top floor available for a nonprofit or local education group. Approximately 1,000 jobs are coming as part of the deal. Developer Hines plans to start construction on the Pelli Clarke Pelli-designed tower — the third and final one in Wolf Point — in January 2020 and complete it in early 2023.
